- enjoy learning from the best
Hello, my name is Richard Pert and I am one of the founding members of British Chess. I am also an International Chess Master and 2016 English Open Rapidplay Champion who provides chess coaching services to children in Essex and adults in central London.
Here at British Chess we run a series of Junior events in Essex aimed at children of all abilities under the age of 14. Our recent initiatives include the U14 Train & Play days, involving a mix of coaching and rapid graded games, which I run jointly with Robin Slade and the support of many others. Since the start of 2017 British Chess events have been sponsored by H+H Fire meaning we are seeing additional Grandmasters & International Masters at all our events supporting us in our coaching.
Our guest coaches are of the highest calibre including Britain’s top graded player and former world number 14 Grandmaster Matthew Sadler, former World number 4 Grandmaster Jon Speelman, former World U18 Champion Grandmaster Nick Pert, and Britain’s top ranked female player Woman Grandmaster Harriet Hunt.
Personally, I really pride myself on helping to produce the best possible events, inspired by my two children Nina (aged 9) and Max (aged 7) who always attend. My children have clearly benefited from the level of coaching and Nina has gone on to become the 2016 U8 & U9 British Girls Chess Champion & 2017 U9 girls champion.
I currently reside in Billericay in Essex with my wonderful wife, Ting Ting and two children: Nina, aged 9 and Max, aged 7. Please feel free to contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org and hopefully we will get the chance to look at some chess together.
